Methodology for calculating the gender pay gap
Tesco is an employer with equal pay for every position.
We calculate the gender pay gap according to the statistical definition of the gender pay gap, which is available on the Eurostat website:
The difference in pay between men and women is expressed as a percentage, and average earnings are calculated according to the arithmetic mean.
It means that the gender pay gap is calculated according to the earnings of all women and men in our society and expressed as a final percentage. The calculation does not compare the salary of individuals in the same job position. As we have already mentioned, Tesco is an employer guaranteeing the same salary for the same positions - that is, women and men receive the same salary. In the central office, the salary of women and men in the same position belongs to the same salary band.
